What Causes Burning Sensation And Tightness On Neck And Shoulder Blades?
I have a burning pain with jabs of severe tightening on my right neck and left shoulder blades. The pain spot travels to different areas at times. I have visited the doctor and am taking a mucle relaxer. I am also applying heat. Original diagnosis is muscle but I am wondering if it is a pinched nerve Thank you Donna
The type of pain like burning sensation is most probably due to nerve pinching. This can occur due to muscle spasm and/or cervical spondilitis causing secondary muscle spasm. Tightness is due to muscle spasm and muscle relaxer may help in some cases as you are already taking it. Local heat give rubefacient effect and is also possible by application of rubefacient liniments. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Take an anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen if it suits you, it helps to relieve pain and thus spasm too. Neck supporting collar. Bed rest in most relaxing position. MRI of cervical spine if the medical management fails to relieve your symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
