What Causes Burning Sensation Around A Painful Lump Near The Navel?
Hi. I m a 64 year old female who worked as a CNA for 30 years lifting very heavy patients. I have had what I think might be a hernia by my belly button area. It burns and hurts. When you push on that area you feel a slight lump. I have never told my doctor. Is a hernia dangerous? Lately it s been getting worse.
I think you are having an umbilical hernia. Normally as it goes inside freely it is not a problem and the patient can use an elastic band to keep it in. At that moment when it doesn't go back easily and hurts and burns it needs urgent attention because incarceration is possible. Incarceration is when hernia contents (organs or omentum) are trapped in hernial sack compromising the circulation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
