What Causes Burning Sensation Around The Eyes After Using Contact Lens?

I went to my doctor last week. I had not been in contacts for 5 weeks. I came home. Since then, my deyebrow bone, eyelid areas, have all been having a burning sensation. I have applied visine and stopped contacts and returned to glasses. I have worn contacts 20 years and never felt this before. There is no redness or swelling.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Contact lenses need special care to avoid infection, allergy & hypoxia to the cornea.

Since there is no redness or swelling, burning sensation in eyes seem to be constitutional symptoms of systemic infection(? viral), as ocular signs and symptoms including pain on motion of the eyes, photophobia, and burning of the eyes can occur in Influenza.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
