What Causes Burning Sensation Below The Knee?

Good afternoon, I am having some strange symptoms just below my knee on my left side. It has been an intermittent issue and I am hesitant to contact my Doctor because I don t want to take up her time but, it has been going on now for over two weeks. I have a sensitive area just below my knee that almost feels like a burn when I touch it or if I rub something up against the area but there is no sign of bruising or rash or anything. It is quite sensitive to the touch. It is just the strangest thing and I don t know whether I should have it looked at or not.

Thanks for writing to HCM.
I can understand your problem. I would like to point out that such burning sensation can be due to nerve disease(peripheral neuropathy). One of the leading cause for this condition is Diabetes. At times some medicines may cause it too.Sometimes problem in your back ( like PIVD/root compression) may reflect as altered sensation (hyperaesthesia/paraesthesia) in your limbs. I am not sure if you are diabetic or not. Moreover you have not mentioned your age as well & was there any history of injury to your back. However if you are overweight, have a sedentary lifestyle, smoker I suggest you to visit your physician for an evaluation.
Do let us know if this was of any help to you.
