What Causes Burning Sensation During Urination After Inserting Nuva Ring?
After putting in my Nuva ring and having a fight to get it in (also having long nails that I normally do not have) I noticed the day after I had a burning feeling while urinating... I naturally did a self check and saw a white cut just beside my urethra opening... do you think I could have cut myself while trying to insert the Nuva ring?
Burning sensation while urination what you are experiencing after insertion of Nuva ring could be due to mild edema of tissues surrounding the urethral region. It could have been partially obstructing urethra and causing friction while passing urine.
Kindly take an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen along with antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine. If the symptoms don't get better by 2 days, you need to be evaluated by means of clinical examination.
Kindly consult Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
