What Causes Burning Sensation During Urination While Suffering From Chronic Prostatitis?

Hi Dr,I am a 47 yr old male--- I was diagnosed with chronic prostatitis around 20 years ago--- the symptoms come and go, but basically have not had an episode for years- Today, I urinated, and when I got up noticed a drop of blood after urinating --- not in the urine --- now I just went again --- no blood at all -- slight burning , but clear urine, flow was strong with no odor --- should I go to the hospital due to what happened earlier?

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you with thanks for a consult!

This is due to urinary tract infection and happens very commonly in chronic pancreatitis patients. There are a lot more other causes too.

Ye, I preferably refer you to consult a Urologist for proper evaluation and to go for some diagnostic tests. Treatment goes according to the culture and sensitivity test report of the urine. He will go for urine complete examination and urine culture and sensitivity test; cystoscopy and Ultrasound kidney ureter bladder. Nitrofurantoin antibiotic is usually recommended and effective in such acute infection of the urinary tract. Your Urologist will guide you further regarding it.
