What Causes Burning Sensation In Arms And Numbness In Chest?

For three days, early in the morning, I have a burning sensation and then both my arms and the front of my chest become numb for about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. I do have a pinched nerve in my lower back so I am not sure if that is the cause or that I am having a heart attack. Thank you. Diane Howdeshell

A pinched nerve in your lower back should cause symptoms in the lower back and legs, it should not affect the arms and chest.

The altered sensation in this area may indicate that a nerve in the upper back or neck that is supplying this area is also affected.
You may need to consider imaging of the neck, shoulders and upper back.

In addition to trauma from compression of a nerve, the other causes of neuralgia (nerve related pain) are: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)diabetes
(3)liver or kidney disease
(4)exposure to toxins
(5)side effect of medication
(6)some hormonal diseases such as thyroid disease
(7)stroke, ms
(8)idiopathic (cause not known)
