hi,
thank you for providing the brief history of you.
As you mentioned you have AS (
Ankylosing spondylitis) it is possible related to the symptoms you are facing now. In AS there are chances of the reduced mobility of the spine which has to be assessed. As seen cases in my personal practice due to AS patients complain of
radiating pain the upper
limbs or lower limbs or sometimes both.
Now , taking up an
MRI of the
cervical spine will help assist to see the
soft tissue in the cervical spine.
Also, due to the compression of the
nerve in the root of it by a disc it leads to abnormal signs and symptoms, since nerve has dual functionality of - motor and sensory functions. Any disturbance in the nerve course will lead to abnormal signs and symptoms.
Also, in AS on a later stages the spine gets affected and the facet joints lose it mobility which can give compression on the nerve roots via the disc. As the process of whole biomechanis and pathomechanics will be difficult to make you understand, but the symptoms you are facing is related to AS and you need to undergo an MRI of cervical spine.
Post which taking a combination of the following therapy will give you optimum results.
1, Rest
2, Medication
3, physical therapy
4, general body conditioning
A combination of all of these have helped my patients with AS an active life style by avoiding pain .
I wish the same from you.
