What Causes Burning Sensation In Chest, Throat And Mouth?

please help! my fiance has had a severe burning sensation in his chest, throat and mouth for the past 3-4 weeks. he has been seen twice and has been told to take meds both times. first time he took OTC heartburn meds and 2nd time was given 60mg Dexilant to take along with Maalox. he has been doing the second treatment for 2 weeks now and has had NO relief. he was literally in tears this morning from the pain this was causing. I don t know what else it could be to ask to have him tested.
