What Causes Burning Sensation In The Arms After Receiving A Methamphetamine Shot?
My boyfriend Injected meth into my arm yesterday it started to burn while he was injecting so he stopped and repositioned the needle, twice. After I did the shot I wasn t in any pain but my arm had a large lump on it. The lump wasn t red or painful. After about an hour the lump completely went away but my vein was really sore and what started out as a light red bruise next to the injection site has gotten larger and actually looks like a rash now. There s also a small spot with a couple tiny red dots by the injection site. The soreness has significantly decreased although my vein is still sore. but the rash or bruise is still there. It s not swollen and there s no heat coming from it. I know that it wasn t a missed hit because I ve experienced that before and I ve had an abscess from that missed hit. This doesn t seem like an abscess so what is it? A rash?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Possible diagnosis -Septic Thrombophlebitis Septic Thrombophlebitis is infection and inflammation of superficial veins resulting in formation of tiny blood clots which can occur as a result of IV injection. Clinical examination, blood culture can confirm the diagnosis. Management is with antibiotics. Please be advised to follow up with the emergency room. Meanwhile, apply ice to the area of pain and take Advil every 6 hours.
