What Causes Burning Sensation In The Feet While Suffering From Diabetes?

I have diabetic and periferral (spelling) neuropathy and take gabapentin developed freeing cold or burning or stinging feet and now within the last 2-3 months it feels as though I have bandages and things wrapped around my toes and now hurts and feels like I m walking on little rocks. IS it poor circulation and what does this mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern.
With a past history of diabetes and peripheral neuropathy, the symptoms you describe are typical of a diabetic neuropathy.Poor nervous transmission and poor circulation are all common with your condition especially if your blood sugar is not under control.I will advise you try the following:
-Have you blood sugar under control
-Continue with gabapentin which is a good pain drug well indicated in peripheral and diabetic neuropathies
-Have you diet under control and take enough vegetables
-You may take some B complex vitamins
-Take enough water
-Avoid putting on tight shoes
I will also advise you see an Endocrinilogist or a Neurologist for examination and better follow-up
Hope my contribution will help you
Wish you good health. You may write back if you got more concerns.
Regards
