Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have myalgic encephalomyelitis, inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. What causes the momentary burning sensations in various parts of my head? What causes momentary severe flushing usually preceded by anxiety? Have had this autoimmune disease for many years and am also very concerned about my dementia. I am 77 and do not believe the dementia would be this bad if I were not ill. Thank you
Unfortunately, when damage occurs to the nerves, the symptoms will include the burning sensation in various parts of head or any other part in the body as in your case. Usually, anxiety will aggravate the neurological symptoms aggravating burning sensations. That's why you feel severe flushing preceded by anxiety.
Dementia damages also aggravates your neurological problems and vice versa. So, it's like a closed circle. However, you should keep in close contact with neurologist and psychiatrist and follow the advice rigorously.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
