What Causes Burning Sensation In The Hips?

My hips, especially my right hip, burns when I walk, do household work especially sweeping, mopping or really almost anything. I work and have a sedentary job so when I am sitting I don t feel the hip burning pain but when I get up my back and legs hurt, feels like sharp pains going down my thighs. I did have a MRI of the L-spine and it showed mild multilevel lower lumbar spondylosis w/o evidence of nerve root impingement. Also, possible May Thurner Syndome. I am scheduled with a vascular surgeon soon to see what that is all about. Can you tell me why my hips hurt/burns like they do? The only thing I am taking for this is Lyrica at the max dose and Cymbalta at its max dose. What can you tell me to do or tell my physician? I am at my wits end!! Please help me!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

What you explained, look like there is some trapped nerve in your spinal disk bulges or down somewhere. I would suggest you see a neurosurgeon and after that, he can confirm. A physiotherapist can help you a lot. A lot of such problems could be helped with physiotherapy until there is some other serious cause, which is always least likely. If not, sometimes you may need surgery for the relief of the nerve.

From my understanding, the symptoms are most likely from nerve entrapment. This is what looks obvious. However, this must be confirmed first by talking to a neurosurgeon or neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
