What Causes Burning Sensation In The Kneecap Be Treated?
Hi I think I may have saphenous nerve entrapment/impingement . I have a carpet burn sensation in my outer left kneecap. It originally hurt on contact with clothing. It now hurts a lot (burning pain) when I turn my knee in particular ways ( but I can walk and run ok). It feels numb to touch. Will it go away on its own, and can I avoid it getting worse? Thanks
From your description, I am of the opinion that You should consult some neurologist locally and have an EMG and nerve conduction test performed on the affected limb. An X-ray of the knee (CT scan would be better) to diagnose too is needed. Till then neuropathic pain medications such as gabapentin would help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
