What Causes Burning Sensation In The Stomach On The Right Side?
My wife is having a burning/cramping pain in her stomach on the right side. She hasn t been very hungry tonight and has been mentioning a consistent pain that has been in her stomach throughout the day. Also she has mentioned how hard it is for her to go to the restroom. When she does go to the restroom it is green diahrrea. Her stomach isn t tender to touch. I don t notice any swelling or anything abnormal. There are bubbly sounds when pressing on her stomach but she says it doesn t cause pain. She does not have a fever and has only taken gas x to help relieve pain. Do you think this could be appendicitis or some type of gastritis?
Most probably it will be an attack of acute gastritis. As a first line management you can try antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persists better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. Detailed evaluation including ultrasound and endoscopy might be required in advanced conditions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
