What Causes Burning Sensation In The Throat?

I have been quite distressed and scared. My throat is burning with pain - I believe it could be acid reflux but am not sure. My doctor recommended some anti-depressants but I am loathe to take them as they make me feel that I am losing my sanity if I take them. The pain causes me to not sleep well, I am constantly tired and these are most uncommon symptoms for me I am usually extremely healthy and energetic - all this is gone and I feel like my life is fading into the sunset. How do I get a proper diagnosis. The last time I visited my doctor she was away as her mother had died and another doctor at the clinic gave me a stronger dose of medication which I discovered later was a stronger antidepressant. I am not depressed - I am frustrated. Can you advise me where to go next. I had to be taken to outpatients a few days ago as it was so severe I was up and down all night thus causing my husband to become a little frustrated and angry with me.
