Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just started on 15 mags of Prevacid at suggestion of dr.- history of GERD. I am on the 4th day and am still having burning in throat. That is the form my reflux takes - do not have typical heartburn. I am a migraine sufferer - that’s the reason the dr. Suggested 15 miss. How long will it take the Prevacid to kick in? I have a very bland diet . I only drink one cup of tea a day in the morning.
The medication you have started is okay for your disease. Usually, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) treatment given for two to three weeks. However, the following points should be kept in mind - -Take pills 1-2 hours before a meal (in short empty stomach) -Avoid spicy and oily food -Avoid fatty food also -Avoid to bed immediately after a meal as lying down after eating will aggravate reflux. -Have curd or buttermilk along with food -Avoid smoking and alcohol.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
