Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning Sensation In The Tongue After Drinking Wine?
The tongue is burning when I drink red wine, or any acidic fruit. White wine just a tiny bit. Minty toothpaste also burns somewhat. This had been going on about 7 days. I am taking a prescription drug for a shoulder injury and it is called Nabumetone for about 3 weeks.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that burning sensation of tongue on taking wine or toothpaste or any acidic fruit indicates that you have inflammation of the tongue leading to Glossitis and as you are taking medication it can be a side effect of it.. It can also be due to burning of tongue with any hot food, Vitamin B12 and iron deficiency etc.. I would suggest you to start gargling with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.. You can start taking Vitamin B complex daily.. Suck ice and do cool water rinses.. Take a soft and bland diet.. In case if still there is no improvement in a week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
