Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning Sensation In The Tongue Post Intake Of Carbonated Drinks?
I'm having problems with my tongue having a burning sensation, especially after carbonated beverages and white wine, like Pinot Grigio. Also, my sense of taste has dulled quite a bit. A few weeks ago, water tasted terrible, when normally I love water and drink up to 1/2 gallon a day.
Understating your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of burning sensation in the tongue post intake of carbonated drinks which seems to be due to acidic nature of contents which cause change in mouth ph and leading to inflammation or tongue known as glossitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Avoid intake of sharp, spicy and sticky food and take soft and light diet.
- Don't brush with hard bristles and use super soft tooth brush and don't brush on tongue.
- Do warm saline gargles several times a day.
- Apply dologel and desi ghee on burning area.
Visit oral physician once and get it examined and go for proper anti-inflammatory medication course. You should get fasting and pp blood glucose levels monitored and start treatment accordingly. Maintain hygiene.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
