Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom is experiencing a burning sensation in her torso which she originally thought might be shingles, but has been told its not by her Dr and she has had the shot. She had radiation and chemo treatment 10 + years ago for cancer. She feels that it could be nerve pain from that. Several times she has been told pains etc could be caused by scar tissue from her surgeries. Could those treatments give her this kind of side effects? Any idea what she could do to reduce the pain? She is 83 yrs old.
Ever patient is unique, not all patients get such side effects but some do complain of such symptoms. In my opinion, get your mom thoroughly checked by a Neurologist. Get her clinically examined & assessed. Get Nerve Conduction tests & Nerve Biopsy done to detect any developing Peripheral neuropathy.
Neglect may lead to complications in the cardiovascular system & circulatory problems. Her treatment will depend upon the severity of the symptoms detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
