What Causes Burning Sensation In Throat After Inhaling Plastic Fumes?
I melted an all plastic pizza cutter on my stove burner. When I came out of the room the smoke alarm was going off. My eyes instantly started to water and I could barely open them and my throat and nose started to burn due to the fumes...should I be worried? I have aired my house out for about 15 minutes with fans running due to being in the middle of winter. Is there anything else I should be worried about?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of burning sensation in throat after inhaling plastic fumes which occur mainly due to allergic response/ reaction due to volatile contents , which can be poisonous. As these fumes are volatile they can cause respiratory problem due to which your throat is burning along with nervous problem which breathing problems and pain in chest and throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult doctor for proper examination without any delay and rule out condition like poisoning. Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug to exhale contents, antihistamine , steroid injection , analgesic. Ranitidine is effective for this. Use water based eye drops. For now take some fresh air and drink plenty of water and milk which will be helpful .
Thank you for your query. Yes, breathing in fumes could cause inflammation in your respiratory tract which can hamper breathing.
inflammation due to the soot deposits can lead to severe edema(swelling) and block your tract. I suggest you visit the ER to make sure you are not at risk as this can happen very quickly. hope you get this message in time wish you good health
