What Causes Burning Sensation In Upper Chest?

Couple of days ago, i had trouble swallowing. I now have a burning sensation in my upper chest--in the collar bone area. I am on omeprazole since Tuesday---doctor thinks it may be GERD. I have never had acid reflux--no history with any of this. I am a biologist ---I work with human cells--could i have an infection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
looking at your history this could be any of following
a heart problem
musculoskeletal like costochondritis
GERD of acid reflux

if you can upload me a complete medical history I will be able to a guide you better
your age and any risk factors for heart disease
intensity and nature of the pain
history of sweating vomiting or uneasiness

in my opinion you should consult your GP for examination and an ECG plus cardiac markers to rule out heart issue

you can take antacids with ibuprofen for pain
hope this help you
waiting for your reply
best wishes
