What Causes Burning Sensation On Lower Flank After Taking Amoxicillin?

I started amoxicillin on Tues evening. Thurs morning I started having a burning sensation on my right side near my waist. It has since spread to my back but I don t have a rash. My dr isn t back in office until Monday. Should I stop taking it in case I m having a reaction or should I just grin & bear it until Monday?

Hi,

Well, burning sensation can be a reaction to the antibiotic that you have taken that is Amoxicillin. In case if there is no rash and if the burning sensation is no severe then you can wait for the symptoms to subside. But in case if the symptoms are severe then you can consult your doctor and get yourself checked. You can also try doing cool compresses to see if it improves. In case if there is worsening then it is advisable to consult your doctor and get the antibiotic changed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
