Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have always been a runner but last November after feeling fine my leg started burning one each side of my right knee and I was unable to run after 3 miles. I would try to run in the weeks following but with the same result- I couldn t stand on the leg after a mile or so of jogging. Then it would start to hurt while I was sitting and the other knee started hurting as well. Now my right knee makes a clicking sound when I walk up steps and hurts in the front- aching and sometimes intensely sharp..... Is this something I can chalk up to being inflexible and having to do more yoga and stretching or should I get my knee checked out further?
Diabetic painful sensory neuropathy - If you are a known diabetic or family history of diabetes, it can be painful neuropathy due to it. You must consult a doctor and get
- Blood sugar (fasting and after food)
- HbA1c level to know about the level of sugar in the last few weeks
- Nerve conduction velocity of the affected nerve.
- Due to entrapment of thigh nerve, it causes numbness, pain, or a burning feeling in your outer thigh which is aggravated by touch/heat. A lot of things can squeeze or damage the nerve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
