Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I get an electric type burning shock in the same spot on my lateral left thigh, just below the greater trochanter. It happens during the night when I sleep. Standing and rubbing my thigh makes it stop. It has happened 5 times over the past month, and is getting more frequent. The spot is tender afterwards. Also, I feel tingling and numbness in my left anterior thigh which wraps around to the lateral aspect of my left knee. Do you think it is my nerve root, or something else.
It seems like you have some diagnostic skills. Your symptoms indicate nerve entrapment. I suggest you to visit a neurosurgeon for evaluation with a spinal MRI and physical examination for the precise diagnosis and treatment (physical therapy and medication or surgery).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hasan Mutlu
