What Causes Burning Sensation On The Vaginal Opening?

I have been having a burning sensation on the outer tissue of my vagina...there are no sores or lesions. I have had an exam with no promising diognosis. The pain as lessened over the two months since it has began, but has not gone away completely. I m worried the doctor may have missed something. I m also worried that it could be herpes. There is no odor or any strange discharge. Also my doctor did say she seen a white spot on my cervix. I have an appointment to have that checked but I m totally stressing out

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Herpes simplex infection is characterized by painful fluid filled blisters on genitalia. White spot on cervix needs to be examined clinically, pap smear and cervical biopsy. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for further management.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
