What Causes Burning Sensation On Top Of Head Along With Frequent Headaches?

I have a burning sensation on the top middle of my head. It has been relieved a bit by Excedrin, but has not gone completely away for at least 2 days. I do get frequent headaches, but not there. I have not bumped or injured it. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

A burning sensation on the top of the head along with frequent headaches can be caused by several factors. Some of the common causes of these symptoms include:
* Migraines: Migraines can cause a burning sensation on the scalp along with severe headaches. Other symptoms of migraines may include sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and vomiting.
* Tension headaches: Tension headaches are the most common type of headache and can cause a burning sensation on the scalp along with mild to moderate pain. These headaches are typically caused by stress, anxiety, and muscle tension in the neck and scalp.
* Trigeminal neuralgia: Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition that causes severe facial pain, including burning sensations on the scalp. This condition is caused by inflammation or damage to the trigeminal nerve, which is responsible for sensation in the face.
* Shingles: Shingle is a viral infection that can cause a painful burning sensation on the scalp along with a rash. This condition is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox and can occur in anyone who has had chickenpox before.
* Scalp inflammation: Inflammation of the scalp can cause a burning sensation on the scalp along with redness, itching, and tenderness. This can be caused by several factors, including psoriasis, eczema, and allergic reactions to hair products.

It is important to consult with a healthcare provider if you are experiencing frequent headaches and a burning sensation on your scalp. They can help determine the underlying cause of your symptoms and recommend the appropriate treatment. Additionally, if you are experiencing severe or sudden headaches, seek medical attention immediately.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
