What Causes Burning Sensation While Urinating?

I am a 64 year old female.I was diagnosed in 2001 with ITP. It went into remission, and reappeared this July. I have had the usual round of prednisone and IVIG infusion. I had a burning sensation when urinating and gave a urine sample last Wed. The culture came back with klebsiella pneumoniae. I am currently on 500 ml of amoxicillin for an infected tooth, 3 times a day. While my tooth is fine still burning while urinating.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The burning is due to secondary urinary infection via low immunity while on Prednisone. Plenty of liquids, culture specific antibiotics and temporary tapering of the steroids are mandatory with consultant guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
