What Causes Buzzing Sensation In The Throat And Excessive Phlegm?

Have seen my nurse practitioner on Sept 8 and she recommended QNasl and Zyrtec for post nasal drip. When I speak, my voice is fine. When I sing, depending on the day, sometimes in the lower ranges, sometimes in the higher ranges (today I can t reach high notes--am not straining--I stop singing), I experience a buzzing sound in my throat. I m used to a clear voice. I also have a great deal of phlegm. Am thinking I should consult an ENT doctor.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understating your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of buzzing sensation in the throat and excessive phlegm, these symptoms probably occur due to sinusitis and post nasal drip.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Do warm saline gargles several times a day.

- Take steam twice a day.

- Take throat lozenges and apply humidifiers in room.

- Avoid intake of sharp, spicy and sticky food and take soft and light diet.

You should consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may order test like CT scan , blood test to rule out condition like acid reflex and strep throat. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics such as Azithromycin at least for 5 days along with decongestant spray.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
