What Causes Calcification In Aorta After A Triple Bypass Surgery?

My 70 yo brother had triple by pass six weeks ago. He s doing well, but his surgeon told him today he has calcification in his aorta and can t drive for ten weeks, this impedes his returning to NY where he resides. Doc is concerned about a CVA. Does this all make sense to you and is this aortic stenosis?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Calcification is generally an age-related change and resulting from long-standing cholesterol and diabetes. In most cases, conservative management will be enough.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
