What Causes Calcium Build Up In Lens Post Cataract Surgery?
I am recovering from cataract surgery. The right eye had been bothering me for about a week after surgery. I went to my doctor and he found a calcium build up which got stuck to the lens. He took it out, but I want to know why did this happen and will it happen again. How can I avoid it from happening again? Edna
Calcium deposition post cataract surgery is not normal side effect or outcome in majority of the cases. There might be a nidus of infection heading towards calcium deposition via tissue reaction and the same has to be evaluated with microbiological culture study.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
