Hello,

Your kidney functioning has improved really well. The calcium deposits in blood vessels are indicators of nephropathy. Calcium deposits are seen in the following groups with increased prevalence
1) Old age
2) Diabetes type 2 variant with kidney involvement
3) White race and male sex also have an additional risk

As you had mentioned regarding shortness of breath and chest pain, suggestive of coronary or myocardial (related to heart) disease, it’s evident that the vascular calcification is to be taken care of. There are recent advances in the treatment of vascular especially coronary artery calcification. There are drugs that significantly lower the progress of calcification and prevent building up of calcium deposits. Those are not any on the counter medication. So please do take the advice of a cardiologist regarding the same.

Life style modification ideas like:
1) Regular walk for 30 min a day for 5 days a week
2) Giving up sedentary lifestyle
3) Cautious with body weight by cutting down calorie intake
4) Regular investigations for blood sugars and kidney function tests, BP
5) Daily meditation to allay stress

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
