intense pain on the right side of the right calf muscle. MRI s of calf muscle, lower back and knee are negative. Orthopedic doctor has ruled out the lower back and knee as the source of pain. However, I continue to have very intense pain. Doctor confirmed that I do not have compartment syndrome. What could be the source of pain?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have calf muscle pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like muscle cramps , DVT , achilles tendon or trapped nerve . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to calf muscle , take proper rest , do stretching exercises of calf and apply anti sprain gel which is available over the counter and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . If condition doesn't get well then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with vitamin supplement for quick recovery . In rare and severe cases doctor may recommend surgery . Gentle massage with flax seed oil will be helpful .
