Hi,

A catheter in the vaginal area may be inserted to help with urinary incontinence or to drain urine from the bladder when a person is unable to do so. The discharge and strong odor you are experiencing may be signs of an infection or an abnormality, and it is important to seek medical attention immediately. The following are some possible causes:
* Urinary tract infection (UTI): A UTI is a common cause of vaginal discharge with a strong odor. The catheter can introduce bacteria into the urinary tract, which can cause an infection.
* Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI): This is an infection that occurs when bacteria grow in the bladder or urinary tract due to the presence of a catheter. Symptoms may include discharge and a strong odor.
* Vaginal infection: An infection of the vaginal area, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection, can also cause discharge and odor.
* Catheter irritation: The catheter may be irritating the vaginal area, which can lead to discharge and odor.

It is essential to consult a healthcare provider immediately if you are experiencing any unusual discharge or odor, particularly if you have a catheter. The doctor may need to remove and reinsert the catheter or prescribe medication to treat any infections or irritations. They may also guide how to care for the catheter to minimize the risk of infections.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
