Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Causes Pain In The Lower Back After Excessive Weight Loss?
Hi, I have experienced rapid weight loss of over 11 kg since February with only mild adjustment of my calorie intake and have had some issues with consistent and constant low back pain with some bladder control issues and constant need to urinate every 2-3 hours. I have been a body builder for over 30 years and drink 2-3 litres of water every day and maintain a high protein diet.
I have gone through the details given. The pain in the lower back may be related to prolonged exercise and strain to the concerned muscles. Some specific stretching exercises should help in controlling that. A physiotherapist should be able to help. With regard to weight loss and frequent urination, please check your blood glucose levels both fasting, PP and HbA1c%. Because presence of high blood glucose can lead to excretion of excess glucose through urine (glycosuria), which increases frequency due to osmosis, more water is drawn to the bladder.
Plus loss of glucose in the urine leads to unexplained weight loss. So, please check it urgently. If diabetes is present start the treatment that will correct the weight loss.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
