What Causes Cellulitis Post Knee Replacement Surgery?

I had knee replacement (zimmer) surgery 5 months ago had a bout of cellulitis shortly after. I have constant burning, dark red skin coloring and swelling that is not improving and I cannot fully extend my leg. What could possibly cause these conditions?

Hi.
As per your case history of cellulitis, my treatment advice is -
1. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection , in your case it is caused post-operatively. It maybe caused due to poor wound-stich care after operation .
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on affected part.
3. Cellulitis requires higher antibiotics like linezolid, piperacillin and amikacin given only after consulting a dermatologist or surgeon.

Thanks .
