What Causes Change In Menstrual Bleeding After Unprotected Sex During Menstruation?

Hi My bf ejaculated inside me while I have my period ,,,,there is no pain but I think its taking longer now for the the flow to come out or the flow seems to have changed. Is it possible the ejaculation of sperm is inhibiting the flow of menstruate. Thanks

Thanks for writing to HCM.

Well, first of all it is not advisable to have sex during the time of periods. This is because, there is a possibility of contacting infection. Even if you decide to have, it must be protected one by your partner wearing a condom.

Now, since you have already done with the act, I understand your concern for having a delay in getting your periods.

Ejaculating the semen doesn't inhibit the menstrual flow.

The delay could be due to two possibilities:
1. Your anxiety or apprehensiveness of not getting periods in time.
2. Chances that you have conceived. But if you haven't had sex any other time after your periods got over, then the chances are very very less.

Hence, you can relax and wait for your periods to appear. If it doesn't happen for more than 10 days, get your urine tested for pregnancy and consult Gynecologist for further evaluation and management.
