What Causes Changes In The Bowel Movement Pattern?

I have noticed changes in my bowel pattern the past three weeks, narrow stools with frequent constipation despite being on stool softness twice a day ( take iron supplement as I have early CLL)I decreased my Ferrous Sulfate to every other day. I have been on this for two years and as long as I took stool softener it did not cause problems. I now cannot go to the BR without the aid of a laxitive. I have always been regular. I have frequent belching and and distention. This last episode lasted several days and took multiple stimulants to produce results. I have also noticed extreme fullness across my upper stomach. My skin is also very ,very dry, Have he of grave disease also and am on synthroid

Hi,

The cause of change in bowel movements with lymphocytic leukaemia may not be an iron intake in your case. Still, you can try parenteral iron with treating doctor's consent.

More possibly it can be due to bowel infection or infestation/an I'd peptic problem/lymphoma of intestines need to be investigated & excluded /confirmed by enteroscopy & biopsy as per a gastroenterologist's opinion... please consult one (early diagnosis forms the key of relief).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
