What Causes Chest And Throat Burning Sensations After Ingesting Spicy Food?
Hello their im worried ii i have heartburn it started when i ate a spicy food, i ate good but next thing in the morning i started with a burning sensation on my throat but know i have these burning sensation in my chest then goes to my throat wtith these burning sensation but then goes away right away but know i have a burning sensation in my chest for hours why.
* The burning is related to erosion or irritation of the mucosa of the stomach, oesophagus via the spicy content of the food through the release of the hydrochloric acid.
* Ideal management would consist of
- control of diet food items to avoid spices, non-veg till possible
- regular use of proton pump inhibitors under physician guidance
- avoid smoking, alcohol if consuming
- avoid stress and anxiety
- further consultation with a physician for the need of upper GI endoscopy in future as per the progress of the condition.
