What Causes Chest Congestion Along With Severe Cough?
Yes,I have had a lot of chest congestion for at least 3 weeks. I have seen the docs where I work, had a rocephin shot, had two different Medrol shots. Had Zithromax for 3 days.Nothing helped. Now I am nearly finshed with Augmentin for 10 days bid,and I still cough a lot, with mucous. Also,I am having broncho spasms that take my breath totally away for a few secs at a time,it s bad. I am at a loss as to what else to do
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe cough and chest congestion which seems to be severe upper respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you visit pulmonologist once and get yourself examined. You should go for X-ray chest and pulmonary function tests such as spirometry to find out the exact extent of infection. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take steam inhalation on daily basis and do gargles with saline rinses. Take a proper course of antibiotics Augmentin along with bronchodilator inhalers. Avoid oily, sharp and spicy food and take a diet rich in multivitamins. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
