What Causes Chest Congestion And Yellow Mucus Discharge From Sinus?
Just wondering what causes bright bright yellow gelatenous type mucous draining from my sinuses. Im a respiratory therapist and have never seen this type of stuff. Ive been treated for the last week with bactrim for an upper respiratory infection/pneumonia but i still feel a lot if congestion and sinus pressure along with feeling worn out.

You are taking Antibiotic Bactrim.Continue using it.In addition, you may find relief by taking the following medication: Analgesic with Antiinflammatory like Ibuprofen, Antacid like Rantac, Oral decongestant like Phenylephrine and Nasal decongestant drops like Xylometazoline(take only if you are not suffering from hypertension), Antihistaminic like Loratidine,and Saline nasal spray.
Also do steam inhalation.Drink lots of warm fluids.Avoid dust and cold food.
After taking the above measures,if your symptoms are not improving,then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor.
