What Causes Chest Pain After Having Jalapenos?

Im a facial surgeon. Tonight I ate a lot of jalapenos and 20 minutes later I had pain like chest pain. It took one hour to go away but went away instantly after hurting severe. I had this before and I did see a doc for HBP for past 12 years. No issues with heart. Anything I can take. Tonight I had to vomit it all back up. I do take zantac everyday 600mg.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The chest pain is likely due to acute gastritis caused by eating jalapenos. You can take an antacid like Pepto Bismol for acute pain relief. Also, continue Zantac and avoid spicy food. It is also important to get an EKG done just to make sure there are no cardiac issues that contributed to chest pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
