What Causes Chest Pain After Playing Basketball?

Reviecing chest pain after playing basketball near my heart it seems as a sharp pain when I take a breath, also kind of still hurts the next day. I don t know if taking a hit to the chest while playing would cause this because I did take a few hits to the chest but when it hurt when breathing is when I knew it couldn t have been just this to cause the pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to costochondritis. Pain while palpation on rib area is characteristic for this. Better to have a X ray to rule out any lung problems or rib injury. For costochondritis I would recommend using anti inflammatory gels like ketoprofen for local application. Oral ketoprofen will be helpful also. If these are not helping then local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic will be helpful.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
