What Causes Chest Pain After Swimming?

I swim everyday, I feel OK, but in the past 3 days, after swimming I feel chest pain on the left side and pain below shoulder on my back. My doctor told me to take Ranexa 500mg whenever I feel chest pain ( I don t take Ranexa daily). Should I take Ranexa now? I did take Renexa before

Hello,

Ranexa is a medication indicated for chest pain due to a heart issue. It is generally recommended for the treatment of chronic angina and not for an acute attack. So, if you need to take Ranexa you have to take it regularly, it will not be of help using it only when you have pain.

On the other hand, if your chest pain is due to a heart problem you will need a thorough exam, a heart ultrasound and possibly a stress test to evaluate the severity of your condition. You may also need blood tests to check your sugar, lipids, kidney function, CBC, ERS, and liver function tests.
