What Causes Chest Pain Along With Shortness Of Breath And Light Headedness?

My 17 year old son says his chest hurts and feels huge a little above the heart area. Is also a little short of breath. Said it does NOT feel like his heart is racing. Feels kinda spazzy and a little light headed. He had Coarctation of the Aorta repaired as an infant. Does have a bicuspid aortic valve. He had Chostochondritis in July. In December he fractured his rib cartilage. Has been doing very good. Pulse is 140/83, pulse 71, oxygen 97-98%

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chest pain along with shortness of breath and light headedness. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like COPD , bronchitis , acid reflux or angina . As per your query doctors have already ruled out heart problem , so it seems to me that the symptoms are probably due to acid reflux or muscle and bone pain . Broken rib can also cause such pain . You should avoid intake of large meals at a time and take small and frequent meals. You should avoid sleep immediately after having food. Take gelusil after each meal to avoid digestion problem. If there is shortness of breath , dizziness and fatigue then consult cardiologist without any delay .For now take steam and do warm saline gargles. Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon for muscle and bone problem as well as for nerve compression.
