What Causes Chest Pain And Breathlessness Despite Being Diagnosed With Lung Cancer?

Hi. my question is about my mother and her condition with fluid to the lung. Whereas, 8 yrs ago she was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been in remission since than. however, she s been having chest pains for the last five weeks and recently as of this week she was admitted to the hospital due to the chest pains as too, shortness of breathe whereas. they discovered fluid-ed on the lung and they cannot seem to pin point the cause of this problem because, so far, all the test has come back neg which, in fact, is a good thing but because of her past medical conditions further test will be applied. In addition, they ve decided a CT is needed either tomorrow or sometime in this coming week. My question to all this does it a appears from her past-present condition could her cancer could be back?

Hello,

Fluid in the lung can definitely cause pain and difficulty breathing. There are multiple causes of fluid accumulation around the lung like pneumonia. Given her history of lung cancer, it makes sense to go ahead with further testing. Besides the CT, collecting the fluid and having it studied for cells and biochemical levels is important to understand the possible cause. However, do not jump the gun and get anxious. Take it one step at a time and have her undergo the testing.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
