Hello,
Thankyou for your query.
Welcome to health care magic.
Onorder to give a defenite answer I would like to know more about your pain
-location and radiation of pain.
-frequency of pain and timing
-Aggrevating and relieving factors for pain
-Any relationship with food intake
-coughing/choking sensation
-your weight
-eating habits
Since cardiac and other causes of pain have been excluded in your case, I want to look into the possibility of GERD. (
Gastro Esophageal reflux disease ) GERD occurs due to reflux of stomach acids into esophagus causing a burning pain.
I recommend that you consult your
primary care physician to discuss this possibility and furyher evaluation.
Meanwhile since GERD is a consideration you can try some life style modifications like
-avoiding spicy,fatty and fried food
-reduce weight, if needed
-regular exercise
-Avoid caffeinated carbonated drinks
-do not go to bed/lay down soon after eating.Make sure there is at least 3 hours after the last meal before you go to bed
-raise head end of bed by using wood blocks under bed posts.Using pillows dont work.
GERD is treated with antacids,
proton pump inhibitors like
omeprazole or H2 blockers like
ranitidine. Consult your doctor to see if you need these medications.
Hope I was able to help you.
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
