What Causes Chest Pain And Nausea After Taking Prednisone?

I am 67, a woman and have myasthenia gravis. I was shoveling front walk and afterwards felt pain in my chest, light-headedness and nausea. I laid down for awhile. I have been on prednisone long term (since 2007). Only on 5 mg ED now due to adrenal suppression. But have been as high as 70 mg everyday. The last time I experienced exacerbation I had to go back up to 40 mg ED. That was last spring. I guess I am concerned about my heart. I took my blood pressure and it was 145/73 with pulse at 87. November 2016 my total cholesterol was 311, HDL 85, TRG 142, LDL 197, non HDL 225, LDL/HDL 2.3

Hello,

As you are taking prednisolone for a long time, it has consequences. And I think your problems are mostly related to its consequences.

But the rise in blood pressure is marginal, so you can avoid or limit salt intake up to 5 gm per day. you can use rock salt inserted of normal salt also. this will helpful to you for reducing blood pressure. And every day do 30 min brief waking.

As per your reports, you have a high level of cholesterol and other fat indices. so you can start cholesterol reducing drugs or use other cooking oils with law cholesterol.

Also, try to minimise the use of oil in cooking and avoid food prepared in oil. Daily walking and some exercise in the form of yoga or stretching will help you. I will especially recommend cardio workout.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
