What Causes Chest Pain And Rapid Heart Rate After Taking Metoprolol 50 Mg?

I took 50 metroplol at 8 am this morning. Then around like 2 pm my pulse was 117 and I took another 50 metroplol. Then at 8 pm I was feeling chest pain and it felt like my pulse was up but I don t know what my pulse was it was like 100 or little bit above. My doctor told me to another 50 metroplol to help it if it was up it would make it go down to normal. I was scared cause I had taken 150 dose. Is that okay?

Hello
You are taking METOPROLOL 50 mg , your pulse rate increased up to 117 , again took metoprolol , elevated , consulted doctor advise another one .
Q: Yes, you can take another 50 mg .
Because you can increase up to 400 mg but after the commencement of one week.
Metoprlol produces bradycardia i.e decreases heart rate ,but according to you your heart rate increased and also there was chest pain . This may be due to tension or stress .
You didn't mention , is there any heart disease for which ,you are taking metoprolol or only as an anti hypertensive.?
In my opinion consult another heart specialist and get his opinion ( 2nd one ).
Hope for good.
