What Causes Chest Pain And Shortness Of Breath Post Quadruple Bypass Surgery?
I had quadruple bypass surgery last week and I m still having excrutiating chest pain, SOB with wheezing, nausea with no vomiting and it feels like they left a very large piece of chalk in the back of my throat. Are these side effects normal and if so, how long before they go away?
bypass surgery may make you feel discomfort for breathing. How long will it take to go away? well that is time being till the bypassed graft gets adapted with the respiratory system. For that, You need to some basic cardiac rehabilitation exercises. The exercises included are breathing exercises, slow walking, etc. But importantly, you need to keep a hand on the chest at the incision region to avoid any strain. You can keep a wrap of a towel beneath your hand or a pillow. Keeping in mind that the bypass surgery was done due to the blockages now the need is to understand that the cardio respiratory balance has to occur. For that a cardiac rehabilitation focused physical therapist is advised. Usually, CABG surgeries are all done with proper care and attention which are 99% successful. Kindly focus on doing breathing exercises keeping in mind to keep a hand over the incision region. Slow walking and gradually the health will improve. If needed, You can take an advice on this from a physical therapist or your surgeon, which will add a benefit for your overall progress of health as well. All discomforts will be avoided gradually, so for that getting worried is not advised
